My Dream Title Miss Northeastern PA 2018

Signing on as your Miss Northeastern Pennsylvania 2018 Marielle Roberts-McDonald. There has been so many amazing things that have happened throughout the last couple years. Here is an update on my journey to the crown & white coat:

Education:

I am currently a sophomore at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania with a major in Biology & Neuroscience PreMed and a minor in Chemistry and Dance. I have completed 81 credits thus far after the Fall 2017 semester where credit wise I am 3 credits away from being a senior. I am Biology Club President, a Student Aid for Biology Department, Certified Tutor in Chemistry and Calculus, and Fundraiser Coordinator in Sigma Kappa Tau Community Service Sorority. I am currently studying for the MCATs as we speak preparing for medical school. At the end of the day, I aspire to be a pediatric orthopedic surgeon working at a Shriners Hospital for Children.

Platform:

My platform is entitled Making Miracles Happen Supporting Children's Miracle Network and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Thanks to the help and generosity of others, I am humbled to say that I have raised $250,000 for Shriners Hospital ONE FOURTH of the way to my grandfather's million dollar goal; also $80,000 has been raised for Children Miracle Network Hospitals. I have taken my platform to a national level where I am partnering with my beloved Irem Shrine Temple AND 5 other Shrines in the eastern part of the United States.

Fun Facts:

I love love to eat ice cream any chance I get, but I always have to counteract the calories with lots of salad for the next week. I am a gym fanatic where you will always find me in the gym lifting weight every day. I promise I am not a cat lady, but I have 6 feral cats--Tinky, Tabby, Teddy, Tutu, Tofu, and Thomas--that I love more than anything. My grandfather, family, friends, Shrine family, and NEPA family are my backbone who have helped shape me into the young woman I am today.

Pageant Life:

I was recently crowned Miss Northeastern Pennsylvania 2018 on October 30th, 2017 where I have the opportunity to represent my home for another year. I am so blessed to go back to the Miss Pennsylvania Stage in June 2018 where I have the opportunity to compete for my dream job that my grandfather and I have always talked about since I was a little girl. My plan this year is to travel across Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Northeast promoting my platform and the Miss America Organization by being remembered as the prodigy of hope by sharing my story as a success story and miracle child.

After the new year, it will be my 4th anniversary of my Facebook Page Making Miracles Happen and my website. But finally, I have created an Instagram Page @makingmiracleshappen_ where I am posting weekly about my story, travels, or even fun facts.
